Guided by both the US Women’s and Men’s Whitewater Raft teams, Nova Guides, and Lakota Guides the Eagle River Watershed Council (ERWC) will float you and your friends down the Eagle River from Edwards to Wolcott. The float trip will journey through ERWC’s continuing restoration of 1.6 miles of the Eagle River in Edwards, then continue paddling downstream to Wolcott.
After the ride you will be ferried back to your car at the Crazy Mountain Brewing Company in Edwards for a pig roast dinner with an ice cream sundae bar, a blue grass band and Crazy Mountain’s finest beers.
This is an educational opportunity to learn about issues facing our watershed and a great kick off to your recreational water season. If you truly care about the health of our rivers, don't miss this event.
This past fall ERWC, working with B&B Construction and more than 200 volunteers (maybe you were one of them), greatly expanded Phase II of the restoration that began in 2009. Volunteers will be needed soon to continue the revegetation of the banks. ERWC also received approval of an innovative ADA fishing access which will start construction as high flow subsides. The ADA fishing access is a project that involved the collaboration of WECMRD, Eagle County Trout Unlimited, Sarah Will, Cliff Thompson, Tred Barta and the Eagle River Watershed Council.
This restoration reminds us that all of our actions in the watershed are interrelated. Land use, transportation, recreation, water projects and public access must be mindful and long term in the design of their impact on the waterways and riparian areas of the watershed if we are to successfully preserve this unique resource for ourselves, our wildlife and future generations.
