On Saturday, September 10, over 350 volunteers from Eagle County companies, local governments, clubs, associations and groups of friends dispersed along 55 miles of Gore Creek and the Eagle River from Redcliff and East Vail to Dotsero to pick up trash. The clean up will run from 9 a.m. to noon and will be followed by a BBQ at the Broken Arrow at the base of Beaver Creek in Arrowhead.

Last year, the Eagle River Watershed Council’s Eagle River Clean Up, presented by Vail Resorts Echo, celebrated its 16th “birthday” with sunny skies, yellow leaves and warm weather. Car parts, lawn furniture, tires and other strange objects joined stuffed orange trash bags along Highway 6.
This year's 17th Annual River Clean Up, presented by Vail Resorts Echo, promises to be just as exciting and rewarding as last year's. SOS Outreach will be looking to defend their Golden Toilet Seat Award for most unique trash find. After a hard morning's work of trash pickup, volunteers will gather for a great lunch served by the Arrowhead Alpine Club in the picturesque setting of the Broken Arrow in Arrowhead. Live music, a raffle, and beer will roundout the festivities, culminating in the presentation of the Annoying Singing Fish Award for the best find of the clean up.
This project wouldn't be possible without the efforts of our team leaders. This year's team leader meetings will be held on Tues., August 30 and Thurs., September 1. Tuesday's meeting will be located at Loaded Joe's in Avon and Thursday's meeting is located at Moe's Original in Eagle. Both meetings start at 5:30 p.m.

Winning the coveted Golden Toilet Seat Award was the SOS Outreach team for finding the most unique item in the river – a plastic yard deer back end. Check out some more pictures of this year's clean up below!
